Application Process

Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet the minimum required qualifications of the position as defined in the job description. Experience can be substituted for education, or vice versa, or an equivalent combination of experience and education. A valid Florida driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record may be required for some positions.

A majority of our job opportunities are for entry-level clerical positions including customer service and court service representatives.  

Selection Procedure
Position openings will be posted for either a specific period of time or as an open-until -filled basis.
The selection procedure requires an evaluation of relevant education, experience and a personal or panel interview of qualified applicants.

Employer and/or reference verification will be conducted on those selected for an interview (current employers will not be contacted at this point).

Salary Ranges
For most positions, the salary listed is the starting salary. If a range is listed instead, then salary is determined by experience.

Testing Procedures
If you are selected to complete testing required for a position, you will be contacted by our Human Resources Department. Only applicants with passing scores will be considered for the position.

Closing Date
A completed application must be received by the closing date. Applications will not be accepted after the closing date.

Application Status
You will be notified if selected for an interview. You may contact the Human Resources Department to inquire on the status of your application by phone or email.

Post Offer – Screenings
If you are selected for a position, our Human Resources department will contact you to make a contingent offer for employment. All job offers with the Okaloosa County Clerk of Court are contingent upon satisfactory completion of the following:

  • Completion of employment application.
  • Background check.
  • Employment, education and/or reference verifications.
  • Drug screening for the presence of narcotic substances, including but not limited to: 6-Acetylmorphine (Heroin), Amphetamines, Cocaine, Marijuana, Opiates, and Phencyclidine (PCP).
  • Some jobs have other specific requirements such as a credit check and will be posted in the job description. 

Should you satisfactorily pass the post-offer screening process, our Human Resources Department will confirm your hire date.

Okaloosa County Clerk of Court hires only U.S. citizens and lawfully authorized alien workers. All selected applicants are required to complete Section 1 of federal Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification) and to provide identification and either proof of U.S. citizenship or proof of authorization to work in the U.S.

In addition, the Clerk’s Office uses E-Verify as part of the I-9 process to verify the work eligibility of all new hires. Intern/Volunteer

The Clerk’s office is more than just the place where you pay your traffic tickets and get your passport. It is also a fun and rewarding place of work! Come learn the vital role the Clerk’s office plays in maintaining official records, collecting and disbursing county funds, issuing certificates, and many other important functions.

The Okaloosa County Clerk of Court offers both a Volunteer and Internship program. These programs are designed for those looking to pursue careers in areas such as criminal justice, governmental process, and law, as well as individuals looking to give back to the community.
